Field Notes
Calendar clusters on the SET
Thai earnings weeks often stack financials and energy names into the same mid-week pocket. Liquidity that looked adequate on a quiet Monday can feel scarce when two widely held names print before lunch.
What clustering changes
Attention splits. So do borrow desks and hedge flows. A reaction that would be readable in isolation becomes entangled with a peer’s guidance call. Our pre-season positioning reviews exist largely for this reason: to see the stack before it arrives.
A simple triage
- Mark every print on your watchlist for the peak two weeks.
- Highlight days with more than one high-attention name.
- Assign each day a primary and a secondary — accept that the secondary may only receive a short note.
Trying to give every name a full briefing in a cluster week is how reaction quality collapses.
